As you’ve probably heard, Facebook made yet another BIG change to their algorithm. If you feel like keeping up with the constant changes to all of the different social media platforms, search engines and the rest, is frustrating and time consuming, you’re not alone.
The good news is… you’re in the right place. Here at Marketing For Travel Agents, we keep up with the changes so that you don’t have to. Then, we let you know what you need to do to react to the latest changes, and we only tell you about the changes that actually affect you, so that you can focus your time and energy on your clients.
The most recent Facebook algorithm updates have dramatically affected your organic reach. Meaning, when you post something on your Business Facebook Page, the number of people that actually see your post has likely gone down substantially.
So what do you do about that?
Here’s the thing. Facebook, and all the other Social Media platforms, can obviously change the rules anytime they want. It’s their platform, they own it, and they’re in full control of it.
What you need to do is get your OWN platform, that YOU own and that YOU control, so that you get to make your own rules! How do you do that, you ask? Build a fantastic website and focus on building and growing your email list. Your website and your email list is your platform to reach your clients.
I’m not telling you to stop using Social Media, not at all. Wherever your Dream Clients are on social media, that’s where you need to be – to build and nurture relationships with them, to drive traffic to your website to ultimately sign up for your email list. You just can’t rely on any social media platform for your business because you don’t have any control over any of them. They have all the control, and all the power when it comes to their platform.
As a business owner, your two most valuable assets are your email list that you grow and your website that you own (not the website that your host agency provides you or someone else owns or has control over).
Your website and your email list work together hand-in-hand. You should have a fantastic website that is branded for you and your business, that you drive traffic to. The goal of your website is to get your ideal clients to sign up for your email list, so you are going to put your opt-in box in several places all over your website – make sure they can’t miss it! 🙂
The next step is to send out high quality newsletters on a regular basis (once a week or every other week is ideal) to nurture your email list. Sending out regular emails helps your ideal clients get to know, like and trust you and keeps you top of mind so that when people are actually ready to start planning their travels, they think of you because they’re seeing you in their inbox on a regular basis. They can easily open their inbox find one of your emails and hit “reply” to set-up an appointment with you!
Now if you’re a little overwhelmed about the idea of researching and writing a high quality newsletter every single week, I get it. And I’m here to help!
Next week I’m sending you access to a brand new Travel Agent Copywriting Class I created for you, my compliments! This class is going to teach you how to write excellent copy and take away some of the overwhelm when it comes to sending out regular e-newsletters. Watch your inbox next Thursday.
And, for those of you who would like to outsource your writing, and spend your time doing what you do best – we created something for you called the E-Newsletter Library. The E-Newsletter Library contains over 50 professionally researched and written articles that you can use in your newsletters. You can edit them as you wish or use them as-is in your blog posts and newsletters. To learn more click here ==> E-Newsletter Library.

P.S. I made you a short video on why you need to have your own branded website and not rely on the website your host agency or anyone else provides you.
