It can be hard to know what to spend money on in your Travel Agency Business.
Which investments are a waste of money and which ones are essential to your success? In this video I’m going to share with you three of the BEST investments you can make in your travel agency business.
Investment #1 – Travel Agent Education
In order to deliver the best service possible and to be confident in the services you provide as a travel agency business, you need to invest in your travel agent education.
Investment #2 – Travel Agent Marketing Education
So many travel agents start with branding, but beautiful branding is worthless if you don’t have the 3 marketing basics, which are…
– Your niche and ideal client avatar
– Your core marketing message
– Your marketing and sales funnel
And these are just the basics that you need BEFORE you even think about your branding. There are of course many more elements that go into a successful marketing strategy, and you need to learn what those are and how to apply them to your travel agency.
You can’t outsource all of your marketing. You can of course hire a graphic designer or copywriter or website programmer to help you, but YOU need to know and understand marketing and be the driver of all of your marketing.
Investment #3 – Systems, Processes & Automations.
Your time is the one non-renewable resource you have and how you spend your time will make or break your business. A smart business decision is to invest time, energy and money into automating as much as possible in your business – and your life! Set up systems and processes that support you, keep you organized, help you deliver an impeccable customer experience, and that keep you on-track to hitting your goals.
Pay attention to everything you do throughout the day and think – can this be automate or systemized? A big hint here – almost everything can be either automated or systematized.
In some cases it just requires taking the time to set up a simple process. In other cases it may require investing in a piece of software or technology.
If a software program or tool or resource costs you $100 a month but it saves you 2 hours a week, which is an average of 8.66 hours a month… it’s obviously well worth it. $100 divided by 8.66 hours is $11.55 per hour. Your time as a travel agent is worth more than $11.55 per hour.
One big mistake that I see a lot of travel agents make is that they don’t properly value their time. They spend time on things that could be outsourced or automated for $10 or $12 an hour… sometimes less. I’ve seen travel agents spend 10 hours a week on things that could be done for less than $5 an hour which means they’re valuing their time at less than $5 an hour.
The 3 BEST investments to make in your travel business are:
- Your Travel Agents Skills
- Your Marketing Skills
- Automation & Systemization
Now I’d love to hear from you. What area of your travel business do you need to start making more investments? Your skills as a travel agent, your marketing skills, or automation and systemization? Please share in the comments below.
Love & Success,
Heidi and Your Marketing Team
I get a good amount of leads from my hosting company. Since I do not know these people I would like to develop sales skills
to both qualify and win them over. Some think that they can do better by themselves than dealing with a travel agent. Some are concerned about dealing with a company they do not know.
Great points, Alex!
Marketing done right can make a HUGE difference, and it’s easy to see the results quickly, online. Copywriting is an investment that can make a big difference – using persuasive techniques in writing and nailing your value proposition sets you apart from competitors. Be sure to get a copywriter that specializes in the travel industry, rather than a catch-all generalist for the best results.
Hello Heather! Yes – a great copywriter can improve your business substantially. 😉
My company was established in 2016 with the aim to promote the tourism in sustaining the development goal of country as” high value, low impact” and also aiming to achieve the one of the four pillars of our GNH ( Gross National Happiness). But i found it very difficult to get the tourist. And I am wondering, what else shall I do now or way forward to get the tourist. I would like to have your suggestion or idea so that I can apply.
Thanks.

I am almost to the Copywriting Module and I am so nervous. Copywriting scares me. Yikes! I think it is the perfectionist in me included with fear of failure. I am working on both. lol!
Haha! Don’t let it scare you! Yes, let go of the perfectionism and I’m sure you’ll be great!
